Ray wanted to stick with Casey in the 19, but Dodge dictated that Mayfield be put in the 19. I don't think Jim Smith was the greatest guy for Ray to partner up with either. I think he may have been "bull-headed" in listening to what Ray wanted. If the 7 had been a straight-up Evernham operation, Casey would've been just fine I think. He'd probably be a title contender in the Cup Series.

agreed, Ray killed Casey's career when he put him in the #7 and just gave up on him before the season ended. even i was 7 years old when it happened, i thought it was dumb idea. it's like he was expecting Casey to win the championship in his rookie or sophomore year lol

I wish Dodge would've stuck with Atwood instead of making Evernham Motorsports put Mayfield in the 19 car in 2002. I still contend that Atwood was running SO much better at the end of the 2001 season, and putting him in the lower quality #7 Ultra Motorsports team killed his cup career. Yeah, the 7 got support, etc, from Evernham, but it was STILL Jim Smith's team, and he ran it his own way. The fantasy NASCAR owner in me would've put Mayfield in the # 91, and had Mountain Dew co-sponsor the car like it did when he was in the 19. Anybody else find it so weird when Coca-Cola was sponsoring Elliott, and Mountain Dew was sponsoring Mayfield at the time? Must've been personal deals with the drivers, instead of the Evernham Motorsports team as a whole. Rant over. AWESOME job on this car!

it's a fictional based off Trickle's #91. the 2001 team chart on Jayski says Mayfield was supposed to run a few races for Evernham at the end of 2001 but that's really the only place that mentions it but since it was a pretty realistic rumor (even though he didn't actually sign until the offseason) i made this car

Actually Dick Trickle drove a car similar to this in 2002 unfortunately he failed to qualify at Talladega

Cool! I see it's a fictional, but was he supposed to drive the 91, or did you just make this one up?
