i really don't think there is a rule against driving a car numbered 69, because there have been about 100 races in the history of nascar incuding a car #69, and nascar doesn't retire numbers. it might not be used because it's never run well (one lead lap finish, ever, in the 1960 daytona qualifying races, and only 3 laps led, all at darlington in 1961). there might be some truth about there being other reasons the number isn't used, because only the #65 has been used less. but i doubt it has anything to do with nascar management.

NASCAR had no problem being sponsored by a tobacco company for 32 years and still has cars sponsored by beer and hard liquor, but no one can use No. 69 for high school locker room humor reasons? P.S.: Nicky Hayden runs No. 69 not for the sophomoric reason but because his father, Earl, ran that number. Earl Hayden has said the beauty of No. 69 is that your number stays the same whether you're on your wheels or upside-down. :)

i know i might offend some people and might confuse others, but, there is a reason why no one in nascar uses #69. For all those high-schoolers and older folks, you probably know what i'm talking about.
