Although I'm not a "new wave of painter noob" It must be the number of steps and time it involves that it never caught on that much.

It's funny how this program has been around since at least N4. It gets forgotten about then, someone does a car. Then you get all the how-dey-do-dats. Then it gets forgotten again for a few months until the new wave of painter noobs show up. LOL

I have done severl cars like this. It's done with a really neat program called Chrome Illusioner. You can get it here: http://home.comcast.net/~n4-n2002_utils/chromer.htm The game basically uses ten seperate skins for a car - one for each "size" the car is based upon how far away it is. What you do is make different skins...two or three tops is best...and you position them in order based upon how you want it to look from different distances. You then make a complete car from each of the different skins and then use the chrome illusioner to create the car. There will be skins 1-10, but you don't want to alternate each individual one. Let's say you have a car that you want to go from red to gold to purple and back again. You wouldn't make them go red, gold, purple, red, gold purple...etc. You would make like skins 10 and 9 red, 8 and 7 gold, 6 and 5 purple and so on, or maybe even one color three consecutive skins. Alternating every single skin makes the car change too fast and the effect doesn't look good. It's a cool program. You should check it out. You can also do trucks. Actually, you can do it with any mod if you know how to manipulate the files properly. ;)

//mrroboto\\\ almost has it, to do the screen shot all I used was two renders and made a .gif For in game Chrome Illusioner 6 is used to make the car change color, it's not that hard once you get the hang of it. I've got a few more Chrome Illusion cars I might post if I get the time once this one falls off the recent list.

thats for sure. id like to know how exactly. but this is what i was thinking... you paint the car. then you make the lightning, frame by frame, until you get to pure black. then you open animation station, make one frame brightest, then lower. save gif. add as layer to car
