Good god people, get over it....IT IS A GAME. Who cares what other peoples opinions are. The cars are painted for the enjoyment of the game, mostly by the painters themselves. Some people take themselves waaayyyyy to seriously

KH and Davewah, calm down. You just got each other wrong, I think that's obvious now. And Chicago, you should keep your mouth shut. the crew members aren's crew members without a reason. Each day, thousands of people upload their cars here and we have a very small number of them on the crew. Not because they just talk much but because they prove that they can paint! On the other hand, there are people who haven't one single post on this site and just appear giving stupid comments. You realized I'm talking about you, Chic?

Minor updates to contigs and number height regarding this new image: http://users.ameritech.net/tazz013/D6NAPA4294WA.jpg It also looks like I will need to update the base as soon as the ful image of the car is released. Funny render has the roof rails looking almost speckled with black, but they are straight yellow in game.

im sorry, i wasnt saying the car was easy, i was just saying u did an awesome job on a simple designed car, the swooshes on the side are by no means easy, i know that. i will re-phrase things better in the future, sorry.

I started out painting with Paint Shop but have since gone to Adobe Photoshop 7.0. There are just more options available on it.

Dave, the car is excellent. Your work is always clean and done meticulously. I do have one question though, what do you use to paint? PSP or Photoshop? I prefer PSP myself. I already downloaded this car and I wish the scheme makers were a little more creative but you did an excellet job.

It cracks me up when some hotshot painter who got added to this site's crew after years of painting mediocre "pearl blue" remakes of in-game cars and being bashed profusively decides to come into someone else's hard-worked on paint and give a compliment non-compliment, as if trying to make it sound like this car was beneath their talents to do. No one is debating that this is a simple car. But the way you phrased it, you made it to sound like you were not only demeaning the car's scheme -- which looks clean and classy -- but also the work that Dave did on this car. Maybe you should spend the time you spent making half assed remarks on this car and actually paint something for a change. Seems like the painting 'crew' (why half of you are even on it is beyond me) here on this site do more mouth running than what they're supposed to be doing -- painting.

Well maybe you need to chill out. All I was saying is that the car looks simple but for a simple car it was not a complete walk in the park. Is it not alright for me to say that? Or is that not "chilled" enough, 'yo'?

You know what, you are right, I need to chill out. I should stop responding so angrily to people in my posts like I have done here to you. I am really sorry. Wait, what did I say again? ... You choose how to word your posts and I choose how to interpret your wording. Just word your posts better to avoid confusion. When you tell someone they need to "chill out" you make it sound as if that person is really upset and/or mad. I am neither right now and I don't think my response to you earlier portrayed that idea either.

That is a good tip, and no I do not mean to sound like a know-it-all, but I have used that trick many times in the past, including on this car for the number 55. Other examples would be when I took the 42 off a Dan Gurney image and blew up the copied image about 6 or 7 times and went over the entire thing with the paint brush. The golden Budweiser logo on the back of my MLB car was done the same way as well. the key for numbers is that you have to have a really good shot of the number in order to even do that. The process can take a long time but in the end it is very rewarding.

Hey davewah, in case you don't know, here's a tip on making numbers. For example, what I do, and would've done in this case was get the picture of the layout from jayski.... then just copy the area around the 55, blow it up as big as you want, then start tracing over it with different layers, say red on one layer, yellow on another (preferrably top), the uner red, fill in the white. Then under the white, do the yellow shadow. After all that, if you made the lines the right thincknes while tracing, you should have a perfect copy of the number you traced, and layered so it's reusable for all kinds of different projects. That's just how I make my numbers. Like on my Mark Martin Valvoline base I posted a while back, the number 6 I made the same way i jsut explained. I hope I got all that out alright. Jut try it, and you'll see after some practice, it's a great process.

Well KH29, it is a simple car but the number didn't just fall out of a tree, I had to spend quite a bit time, almost an hour to be exact, painting it by hand because the font isn't a default on Windows XP. At first I just used two 5's from the old style 15 and realized how far off it was, so I went ahead and made it as good as possible and spent the time to make a better one.

Very nice job, man! I hope he does win some in that thing. I'm thinking most likely it'll be metallic blue though.....hey cool, see if you can do another one just like it for the heck of it and change the base to metallic blue, just to see, you know....
