This is my version of Daytona of the late 80's. The main changes I made were to the backstrech, I removed the wall on the inside and added the small hill bettwen the track and lake Loyd, I also added the lake. The main grandstands are still the same.
INSTALLATION
1.Unzip the daytona_88 folder to your tracks directory
2.Go to your daytona folder and copy the daytona.dat to the daytona_88 folder
3.Rename the daytona.dat to daytona_88.dat
4.Start racing!!

i found out why the ai hit the wall in the turn all the time. its because of the pit road speed. i just changed the pitroad to 55 the way it should be and they drove just how they always do and dont crash the wall. if the maker of the track could make new .lp files im sure we could get it working so there is no pitroad speed. |

it actually did happen in the 88 mod, Darell Waltrip was on 2 wheels, when he hit the wall, and someone was only on their front wheels, and hit from underneath, and went soaring |

Hey Rafco, about what they were saying about the AI running into the wall. Not the 88 cars, but the 2003 cars and all. What I did to fix it was copied the whole track ini and raceline.lp from the default daytona and put it in Daytona 88. But reading your comment about what you forgot to mention...lol, i began wondering. I haven't downloaded 88 mod yet, but when I do, will the changes I made effect the 205 210 mph that they ran? |

Tony I don't use Winzip, I use Winrar, the reazon for that is that Winrar opens more tipes of compressed files than Winzip does. If you go to download.com you'll probably find Winrar there. ;) |

cool. Just forgot to do the light maps on the backstretch ;-). I'm gonna use the track as a base for the revised daytona 1990 |

ATTENTION: I forgot to mention something important!!!
This track is to be used by the 88 mod, and MUST BE PLAYED WITH REALISTIC WEATHER, so the cars can make laps in the draft of 200-210mph. This is jus my 2nd attempt at Sandbox and track editing, so I still forget some things. :)
One other thing, in the track.ini, in the section
[weather]
track_cloud_prob = 0.90
change it to 0.50 or less so the skyes will be more clear. |

I don't have any problems with the AI, but I'll try to figure out whats happening. |

It's a .rar file, you can open it with Winrar, witch opens more tipes of zip files than Winzip. |

the AI is running into the wall in turn 2, like, right into it, some scraping it, and some really smashing it. |
